What is an interesting fact about yourself? The hotel business seems to run in the family. My wife is a General Manager and my oldest son is a Revenue Manager for IHG.
With over 25 years’ experience, Mike McGuigan has work with Hyatt, Marriott and Hilton hotels. A native of New Jersey, Mike’s career started in Atlantic City working in casino hotels and then relocated to Chicago. Mike joined the Dow Hotel Company in 2000 as the Assistant General Manager of the Embassy Suites O’Hare Rosemont. Under the DHC portfolio, Mike served as General Manager of the Marriott Suites Deerfield for 6 years, then Area General Manager of the DoubleTree and Embassy Suites Rosemont.
In June 2013, DHC acquired Hilton Orrington in Evanston, Illinois. In less than 2 years, Mike implemented the DHC cost controls program, which resulted in a 25% increase in rooms profit and a $1.7 million increase in NOI, as well as supervised a $5 million renovation. When Hilton Orrington was sold in December 2015, Mike was retained by the new ownership as General Manager. In January 2018, Mike returned to DHC as Area General Manager of the DoubleTree and Embassy Suites O’Hare Rosemont.
Mike has a Bachelor’s Degree from West Chester State University in Political Science Administration, and an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Widener University. He is currently a Board Member of the Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association and has served on the board since 2015.
